TRE is a series of 7 exercises developed by David Bercelli who recognised that the effect of traumatic experience on a person would induce tremors. These exercises open the body to these neurogenic tremors in order to help us release built up tension in the mind and body. TRE sessions allow us to 'shake off' our day or our week and with practice TRE allows our system to be in a more regulated state on the whole.
The fundamentals of Pilates exercises are based in safe and sound movement patterns. It's these patterns that we will be looking at. The exercises we will be applying are specific to your needs and are very gentle, soothing and easy to practice.
Many health conditions have stress related factors. Long term stress can trigger a range of physical and mental health problems, including depression, digestive issues, heart disease, anxiety, headaches, and skin conditions. Reducing stress by balancing the nervous system allows the breathing space our bodies need to heal themselves.
We recommend TRE to those who have PTSD. Dr. David Bercelli who developed TRE has worked providing trauma relief workshops and designing recovery programs for global organisations in Israel, Palestine, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Yemen, Egypt, and Lebanon.
